Chen Lei 1969: Born in Changsha, Hunan Province1990:Graduated from Changsha University of Science and Technology, Hunan Province, China. 1999 : Studied and worked in the United States, now lives and works in Beijing. Chen Lei has always been committed to the promotion and practice of Chinese modern and contemporary art trends. In the creation process of his works, he tries to mobilize all the perceptive power and tap the visual memory in the subconscious. He transformed the sedimented life experience and feelings into a supernatural stream of conscious- ness scene, and changed the original context of symbols and images to become unique elements in the picture. He is hoping to achieve self-cognition through the act of painting, and to walk step by step on the road of enlightenment in the psychedelic world.

Chen Lei is a representative figure of the "New image" art movement in Hunan in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and the youngest artist to win the Excellence Award at the 1992 Guangzhou Biennale (Oil painting section), China's first biennale. His works have been recorded in the Complete Collection of Modern Chinese Art - Sketch Volume, Chinese Contemporary Art History 1990-1999 (by Lu Peng), Chinese Contemporary Art 1979-1999· Oil Painting (edited by Fan Di 'an), 20th Century Chinese Art History (by Lu Peng) and other art history documents.
